Really?!?!?!?!?

In my Bible study this week I was reminded of the foolishness of Amaziah, king of Judah in II Chronicles 25. He has defeated Edom in battle and then he brings their gods home and worships them!! Really?!?!?! The gods couldn't save the Edomites from Amaziah, why would he want to worship something less powerful than himself and definitely less powerful than his God? God sends a prophet to rebuke him but in his arrogance he threatens the prophet.

Think about it, my Christian friend. We serve a living God. A RISEN Savior! Maybe you are not tempted to bow down to a statue; but, do you place your trust in your bank account, or job, or status in the community? We have no need to place our trust in the things of this world. God is more than all of this. We have the assurance from the Most High that we are His children; and as such, are assured of heaven!

Ups & Downs

This week has been one of those weeks! Lots of ups & downs. I am thankful for God's blessing in His timing. A friend brought my son a "hand me down" bedding set and a toy he loves. My husband was able to make some sales at work. God is asking me to continue trusting. I can't see the future but I know He is there.

Today I have realized that it is simply a matter of obedience. I preach o-b-e-y to my kids all day long, but have I learned that lesson? When God says this is what I must do, do I obey or do I complain or whine or suggest an alternate plan to God?

And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD,
choose you this day whom ye will serve;
whether the gods which your fathers served
that were on the other side of the flood,
or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell:
but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.
